The Cascatelle Saxophone Quartet is a promising young ensemble founded in February 2017 at the Zurich University of the Arts, performing both classical and contemporary music.
The four musicians from Latvia (Paulina Pitenko), Poland (Faustyna Szudra), Switzerland (Vincent Magnin) and Thailand (Pisol Manatchinapisit), mentored by Prof. Lars Mlekusch, made their debut as a quartet at the opening of the exhibition at Museum of Design in Zurich.
In May 2017 the ensemble had an opportunity to work with a contemporary Columbian composer Germán Toro-Pérez and perform his great piece 'Musique de Saxophone' at 'Atelier zeitgenössische Musik' at ZHdK.
In November 2017 the quartet was invited to be a part of the Musikfest Zürich West at Johanneskirche in Zürich.
In December 2017 the Cascatelle Saxophone Quartet won the 'Kleiner Prix Walo 2017' in Birr and in May 2018 performed on the Swiss TV at the '44th Prix Walo-Gala'.
In July 2018 the quartet had an opportunity to present themselves on the 18th World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb with their program 'When Saxophone meets Switzerland'.
In the near future the Cascatelle Saxophone Quartet is planning to participate in chamber music competitions, to create and organize different artistic projects and to cooperate with composers to enlarge the saxophone repertoire.
